Prime Minister Mohamed H. Roble has announced that the Federal Government (FGS) has released $11.7 million out of the Somali Central Bank. The $11.7 million obtained from the International Community is earmarked for Somaliland’s development projects to support with the emergency response to the catastrophic blaze that destroyed Hargeisa’s biggest market, Waaheen.
The Federal Government and business leaders in Mogadishu have also announced an additional $3 million to support victims of the inferno that have lost their livelihoods.
‘A rare call’
This comes after a rare call between Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Somaliland’s Muse Bihi yesterday in which President Farmaajo expressed condolences and promised humanitarian assistance and support during this difficult time.
The Somali Federal Government donated in total $14.7 million to support the crisis in Hargeisa.
