28.03.2022: Mogadishu, Somalia
Somali Prime Minister Mohamed H. Roble received the British Ambassador to Somalia, Kate Foster at his office in Villa Somalia.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), officials discussed the country’s elections, the recent terrorist attacks in Beledweyne and Mogadishu as well as the humanitarian crisis that has engulfed the nation.
The British Ambassador offered her condolences to the victims of the terrorist attacks which saw over 50 individuals killed including prominent MP Amina Mohamed Abdi.
PM Roble reaffirmed his commitment to a peaceful end to the remaining elections in the country. However, there remains an impasse in Garbaharey as Jubaland officials fail to reach an agreement regarding the elections in Gedo despite the 17th September Agreement outlining requirements.
The PM also faces resistance from Galmudug and South West state as both regional states rejected the roadmap set out by the FEIT and supported by the PM.
